This piece measures 24 x 40 and is crafted from copper, a medium that allows me to explore the dynamic interplay of color and texture in an entirely new way.
The artwork is composed of two panels, each bursting with a fluid, abstract design. You'll immediately notice the swirling patterns in bright turquoise and earthy brown tones. These colors were carefully chosen to create a vibrant yet harmonious visual effect, reminiscent of natural formations or geological features. As you delve deeper into the piece, the rich and layered textures reveal themselves, adding depth and nuance to the overall composition. The organic lines and shapes give the artwork a sense of movement and balance, drawing the viewer into an immersive visual experience.
The inspiration for "Reflections of the Soul" came from a desire to capture the essence of fluidity and transformation. As I worked with the copper, I was particularly fascinated by the medium's ability to develop a unique patina over time, which adds an element of unpredictability and serendipity to the piece. This characteristic became a defining feature of the artwork and played a crucial role in its evolution.
The process of creating this piece was like a dance between control and surrender. The copper's natural properties required me to adapt and respond to its changes as I worked, making each step of the journey both challenging and rewarding. I hope that when you view "Reflections of the Soul," you're able to feel the movement and balance that the organic shapes and colors convey, and perhaps see a reflection of your own inner journey mirrored within its depths.
Through this artwork, I invite you to pause and reflect, to find your own meaning in the patterns and colors. Whether you see echoes of nature or traces of personal introspection, "Reflections of the Soul" is a testament to the beauty of transformation and the ever-changing essence of our inner worlds.
I have a local collector of my copper patina art. He had some specific colors that he wanted in this piece. He likes vibrant dark colors. I think this piece will compliment his space that he is he hanging it in. An art piece can be a focal point in the room so don't be scare to go big, or go home. :) Make a statement!
Close up of section of my coper patina art. I can pull lots of color hues and this blue is one of the most vibrant. The level of sparkling looking sand in this section is absolutely stunning. Copper Patina art is an organic metal art and all pieces are one of a kind. It is a Wabi Sabi Style of art which is my absolute favorite. I didn’t know what Wabi Sabi Art or style was until clients that purchased my art and Interior Designers pointed out that my art is that style.
These panels were created to show the different hues of blues that can emerge from copper. It felt like it was a copper rain, here the name. It started out lightly and then got heavier as it went on.
Copper Patina is very much a Wabisabi Design Style. A style that embraces the natural flaws and imperfections to enhance the beauty of the final art.
These pieces have been SOLD and are on the way to a collector of my art in Travelers Rest, SC.
Working on a custom wall mural for a client here in Nashville, Howard Wiggnis. He’s pushing me out of my box to create a piece that compliments these colors he already has in place and making a 3D piece. I’m excited to get going on the next phase.
I’m working on a very large custom mural for a client and this is Phase 1 and only a section of it. He wants dark, bright colors and I think I nailed it for the background. I will be adding copper leaves, etc to the face of it. Stay tuned to see how the final piece comes to life. I love working on custom pieces as they give me an opportunity to think outside of my box. This one has been a little intimidating but becoming very excited about it.
This piece is for an Interior Deisgner who is an actual art collector.
This was the 1st large mural I did. It was actually a custom piece but the client wanted it to look more like another piece I did. I have never tried to sell it…..not sure why. Maybe sentimental???
I’ve recently pulled it back out and am entertaining selling it. I love that black and copper are the only colors in it. That’s really not easy to achieve. Not even sure I can do it again. :) A piece in these colors would look amazing as a kitchen backsplash!
Anyway, commissions always welcome. Nature is my inspiration.
This copper mural showcases a series of vertical bars in varying hues of blue and rust, arranged in a manner that evokes the texture and form of tree trunks or weathered wood. The interplay of these colors creates a striking and visually engaging composition, emphasizing both contrast and harmony. The blue reads as an inviting aquatic tone, implying depth and fluidity, while the rust-colored sections add a warmth that is grounded and earthy. This juxtaposition of elements suggests a narrative of nature and decay, evoking emotional responses tied to time and transformation.
This was a custom piece for Kelly Maxwell Designs owner of Littlebranch Farms and will be showcased in his condo in Salt Lake City. Since the condo has a wall of windows that looks directly out onto the mountans, I was inspired to incorporate a series of trees in the piece while also pulling all the colors together as spec’d by his interior designer.
