Abstract Copper Patina Art

This is a section from a large mural that a client asked me to create for a specific space in his home.. The final piece was very large and was added to his art collection.

It was my first attempt at creating 3D type art, where I created another layer of art on top of the copper patina background. Certainly had me step out of my comfort zone. lol. But was glad he gave me that opportunity and pushed me to create a piece that I would not have created otherwise.

“Forest Moonrise”- this piece has sold but getting ready to do a custom piece with this same look. I love how the teal contrasts with the golds and blacks along with the vertical lines creating a forest look.

Copper Patina has a wabisabi design style to it which makes makes it even more dramatic. Beuaty in imperfection. Celebrating the flaws.

"Walk for Peace"- Copper Abstract Art

This copper patina mural was totally inspired by the Buddhist Monks recent 2300 mile “Walk for Peace” pilgrimage, 2025/2026. I was so touched by the number of people that were moved by their walk, Aloka, the most buddhist dog in the world, and the compassion in their hearts. I loved every little, and big, thing about their pilgrimage.

While the type of art I create with copper patinas, doesn’t provide a way for me to create people, per se, the colors I was able to achieve, are the exact colors in their robes. I “may” add some fabric to this piece to try and create the monks profiles, an abstract version, or something. I guess I haven’t completely decided yet, which makes this piece still, a WIP. :)

Copper commissions always welcome for abstract wall art for your home or business.

"Rivers Edge"- Copper Abstract Art

This is another piece of copper patina abstract art that I just finished as part of my small works series. I am actually loving these small pieces especially since everyone doesn’t have the wall space available for my larger pieces. These also feel more intimate to me. And have their own small stories.

Commissions always welcome.

Copper Patina Art- Small works

I’ve started playing around with much smaller pieces, primarily becaus, lets face it, not everyone has wall space to accommodate my large wall murals. This is the 1st one I have completed and its 6’ x 9’. I love these smaller pieces and sadly,I had to temporarily put a hold on creating these as we had a major ice storm in Nashville and its been a week of survival mode. Looks like I can pick back up next week as we will finally get able freezing.

This is clearly a WIP. :-)

I aged this large piece and while deciding how I wanted to move forward with it, I was blowing leaves that the maple tree in my yard was dropping. The colors were so brilliant and kept reminding me of the copper piece I had just aged. So, I picked some up and they are still sitting on top of this copper mural. Just deciding if I want to move forward with or without the leaves.

Thoughts?

Custom Copper Mural

This custom copper mural was created to hang in a small, dark powder room. The mural feels almost like a living ember: a piece that glows without light, grounding the space while giving it an elevated, gallery-like atmosphere. It bridges nature and refinement, adding both warmth and mystery to the room’s design.

I needed to create a piece that wouldn’t compete with the busyness of the wall paper and also be light enough to compliment the subtle lit, albeit beautiful powder room. In th send, I was very satisfied with the way to all are together.

Custom orders always welcome.

"The Soul Beneath the Surface"- Copper Patina Wall Art

This piece feels like a landscape dreamed into being—an ancient memory rising through layers of color. The flowing greens and golds move like currents under the surface of the earth, while the warm ochres and soft pinks pulse with something deeply human. It carries the energy of something discovering itself, as if it’s both a map and a heartbeat.

There’s a sense of erosion and renewal here—textures that look worn by time but illuminated from within, like buried light pushing upward. It feels like the moment right before transformation, when everything is shifting but still beautifully uncertain.

This artwork speaks of hidden worlds, emotional geology, and the quiet truth that what is weathered is often what holds the most depth. It invites the viewer to slow down, listen closely, and trust the unseen forces shaping their own inner landscapes.

It’s a reminder that creation comes from movement, from surrender, from letting colors spill into each other and reveal what the soul has been carrying all along.
